The Countdown is On

Tuesday 17th October (T minus 1 day)

After four long years of (un)patiently waiting, I can't believe it is almost here . . .  tomorrow (TOMORROW), we will finally be returning to Japan.  Our last trip was in 2019 and we planned our next adventure for October 2020 . .  then the world collapsed and our next two trips were cancelled.  They say 'patience is a virtue' and now, here we are getting ready for our long awaited holiday.

 . . . . . . .  I'm not that excited

Well maybe just a little!

We've just got the confirmation and arrival details from the house we have rented and that might have just pushed me over the edge.

Got everything else ready to go:-

• Yen
• Passport (my lovely new BLACK passport - it's definitely not blue!)
• Train Passes
• Extra Money on Travel card (for those emergency purchases)
• Checked in for the flights
• Carry on Bag ready to go

I've started the blog today so it'll be ready when we get to Japan.  This is not going to be an action packed itinerary like previous years as we are now a bit old and a bit slower . .  don't get me wrong, we are still going to a lot of places as there are still new things to see - but we now want to appreciate Japan and take it a bit easy . . . after all - it is a holiday!

Got a few places on the itinerary:-

• Kurobe Gorge (Beautiful scenery on a slightly strange train - you'll see)
• Nagoya (Big Castle and the Art Museum with 'Tale of Genji' scrolls)
• Toyama (Another Castle and the Glass Art Museum)
• Takaoka (Home to one of the three big Buddahs - and he's HUGE)
• Yamanaka Onsen (planning to hit a couple of the Hot Spring baths)
• Komatsu (Home to the worlds largest Dump Trunk - and who wouldn't want to see that??)
• Takayama (Oldy Worldy steeped full of tradition)
• Uchinada (Going to the beach for a plodge)

There's also a few new things to see in Kanazawa that have gone on the list . . there's a new huge Library (I know - geek fest), teamLab are making an appearance at the Castle . . I'll explain all when we get there and there's a couple of coffee shops that I will need to hit.

Now all I have to do, is get through today, finish work, get home and start packing . . . .  

Kanazawa - watch out . . .  we are coming for you 😀
